GHOST LEAGUE - SEASON 3 - RULES CONCEPT
GHOST RECON 1.4.0.0. - MP1, MP2, GL -MOD
ANNUAL SEASON -SYSTEM
Ghost League run annual seasons which lenght varies depending on how many teams there will participate each season. Before season start there's certain Sign Up -time limit for clans to decide do they participate. If clan decides to participate, team leader will sing his clan from main menu SIGN UP -link. After signing, admins will add that team to active gaming group, named by upcoming season. Contact admins via main menu CONTACT link if your clan doesnt appear to front page gaming group within tree days after signing.
Read rules carefully through before you sign up! Also check out that your team fulfills required conditions for gaming at GhostLeague.
One season consist of regular season where every participating clan will match once against each others, and after regular season TOP 8 ranked clans will continue to play-offs. In general, rules are the same for both parts of the season, with small exceptions like freelancer -rules. From below you can find more info of this.
Beginning, ending and period change from regular season to play-offs will be announced at frontpage news post.

1. RULES IN GENERAL
1.0 || GAME MODE ||
Season 3. has three different game modes - Hamburger Hill, Domination and Warzone.
Hamburger Hill : you can win the round by gaining more points holding the marked area on the map, or killing all the enemies
Domination : you can win the round by controlling majority of point sites (5 sites all in all) longer and gaining more points than your opponent, or killing all the enemies
Warzone : you can win the round by controlling central point area 3 minutes in row, or killing all the enemies
If round ends up as a draw, the same map will be replayed again with same settings. When filling in the score you leave the draw map out of it. Game modes are chosen by the clan who doesnt pick the upcoming map. ONE GAME MODE CAN BE CHOSEN ONLY ONCE! That means in a match between Clan A and B both will choose one map for Hamburger Hill, one map for Warzone and one map for Domination. Check example below.
1.1 || BEST OF 9 ROUNDS ||
Match consist of 9 rounds - 6 maps/rounds will be chosen by clans and 3 last maps will be random. All official match maps needs to be GhostLeague mod maps. First 6 maps are chosen in relays. (Remember! one game-mode can be chosen only once! In match both clans are forced to once choose HH, Domi and WZ!) Example:
- Lagtest
- Premiere battle
- Clan A - picks 1. map - Clan B - picks game mode, example : Hamburger Hill
- Clan B - picks 2. map - Clan A - picks game mode

(Use Ready-Up mode first unless the opponent team is delaying the start round after round. Use the 3 minute timer when needed; both teams needs to agree using timer)
3. BEFORE MATCH
Contact your opponent before a match. Try using the messenger on GhostLeague.net and share ICQ, MSN, Email-adresses or IRC channels so you can always contact each other and discuss which day is best for your team and try to work out a date that works for both teams. Please keep in mind there can be some timezone differences, so use GMT times! Check link TIMEZONES
Besides the time/day you also need to find a server where both teams can play under acceptable conditions. If nobody has a dedicated server or a suitable connection to host their own server then you need to ask around by posting on Ghostleague.net forum and hopefully someone can help you out then! Ask server admins/owner for permission to play there and book it days before your match to avoid double bookings! The server you've decided to play at should be visible at match data. Try to arrange 1 match / week! You can play your matches as fast as you can arrange them of course, but try to keep up with 1 match per week phase to avoid congesting the match schedule for others and on the other hand not to lag too much behind other teams with your match schedules.
4. MATCHING
4.1 || CLANS - SQUAD, MEMBERS, MATCHING ||
Clan needs to have atleast 3 members at their squad. All players who are playing GhostLeague matches need to be in their clans roster/squad. If a clan brings player with their tag to match who isn't in the GhostLeague's Team Squad, the opposing clan can refuse the match. Players should have different functions; for example make sure in Additional info who is your teams contact person/War Arranger. Teams are allowed to add/remove players in their squad freely until one month before the play-offs begin. Deadline of each season will be announced in news. After this deadline ask admins for approval if your team needs some urgent player changes!
Minimum number of players in match is 3 vs. 3, maximum number is as much as server can hold up or teams can bring! (In general : 18 vs. 18)
Amount of team re-spawns changes with the match size - explanation:
3 vs. 3 : 3 x Team re-spawns
4 vs. 4 : 2 x Team re-spawns
5 vs. 5 : 1 x Team re-spawns
6 vs. 6 : 1 x Team re-spawns
7 vs. 7 : same as upon
When having lower amount of players than 5, remember to change re-spawn settings!
4.2 || NO SHOW ||
Make sure you are 100% confident your opponent didn't show up at match night; check instant messengers, Ghostleague messenger, IRC, MSN and/or ICQ or whatever form of communication you agreed to use before the match. Also check the forum to see if your opponent left a message for you there.
If there still isn't a sign of life from your opponent 30 minutes after the agreed starting time of the match then submit a 3-0 roundwin with 3 points for you and 0 points for the opponent - when filling in the 3 round wins use the '-NO SHOW' map when you need to choose a map, it would be unfair if you didn't get any roundwins from noshows, and to get full points (9 roundwins) isn't realistic either.
If you encounter NO SHOW result for a match in the play-offs, you must report the incident to the admins! We handle every no show individually!
4.3 || FREELANCERS ||
Using freelancers is allowed only when you're having a match where's 5 vs. 5 or more players! Teams are not allowed to use freelancers with 3 vs. 3 or 4 vs. 4 matches! Example : if teams planned to play 5 vs. 5 match but at match evening other clan cannot get enough players, they can use freelancers if opponent allows them.
Rules wise we allow a maximum of 2 freelancers to avoid 'no shows' and frustration for both teams. The more the merrier! Freelancer is defined as a player that does not appear on teams member list. If clan will use two freelancers, they cannot be originated from same team! Example: Clan A vs. Clan B; B wants to bring 2 freelancers from Clan C - forbidden! But if A approves, B can bring one freelancer from Clan C and one from Clan D.
Freelancer should wear the same tag as the team he is playing for that match. Freelancer can be a member of other Ghost League clan or just an player outside of the league. You can also add freelancers to increase the teamsizes, even if you don't really need them because you have 5 registered players online to play in the match. Again, as long as both teams have an agreement then it's alright. Opposing clan needs to accept the use of freelancers; they're allowed to refuse matching if dont accept suggested freelancers! All other kind of multi-clanning or fakenicking isn't allowed! Player can belong only to one clan in Ghost League.
At play-off's we allow only 1 freelancer to be used per clan at match. Play-off -teams players arent allowed to be freelancers to other clans! To clarify: none of TOP8 clan players are allowed to freelance to other play-off teams. It's preferable to ask opponent as soon as possible do they allow gaming with freelancer.
4.4 || SERVERS ||
If there are no problems before the match and both teams are complete then join the proposed server around matchtime and proceed with a little lagtest to see if the server works well for both teams.
Please test it under normal conditions (nobody plays with 6 MM1/Support players, and nobody is emptying full clips either). Try shooting at objects or at the ground so you can see how fast your bullets impact the object you are shooting. This might cause some problems when 1 or 2 players have PC/Internet problems. We won't handle any of these problems. We hope the teams can work out these problems, play like gentleman, give respect and you'll get respect back! Choose the best compromise what comes to choosing server!
If the server you're playing at has some other maps, like for instance Original Ghost Recon maps (ex. MP01_River) and randomizing gives you one, you need to skip it untill next random GL_ comes up (which havent played already) or choose if for instance instead of M01_Caves -> GL_M01_Caves. Deal with opponent which method you like to use.
4.5 || REPLAYS ||
The player/clan hosting the server is also responsible for the replays, the replays can be saved after every round by the hosting player, in case he/she forgot about it then check out your Ghost Recon\Data\Save\replay folder and rename the defaultreplay.rpf to something else so it won't get overwritten next round.
Don't use characters that Microsoft Windows doesn't accept as filename, you can use the following format for example: clanA_clanB_mapname.
If the match is played on a dedicated server then the owner clan/person of the server is responsible for the replays. Make sure before the match that you can play on that server at that time and server's ready for GhostLeague gaming.
4.6 || MATCH ||
The server admin or player who has edit server -password needs to change the server settings so the Ghost League settings are set. Play according the concept. All 4 colors are allowed to be used (blue, red, green and yellow). The winner team of premiere battle has color advantage, meaning that they can choose which color they want to use. After colors have been decided they will stay that way untill the match is finished.
To be able to play a match a team must have atleast 3 players. Teams can decide amount of X vs. X before playing the actual match and it is recommended to do so.
You're allowed to change player within the match, or add more players. (example: started 5 vs. 5, but after few rounds able to get 7 vs. 7)
5. AFTER-MATCH
5.0 || POINT SYSTEM ||
By winning a regular season match your clan scores 3 points for victory, and receives map scores (5 to 9) depending on the overall result. Clans are ranked during the season in gaming group by the points they've earned. If points between clans are even then the amount of map victories (efficiency) will decide the rank/order. Loser of the match receives 0 points and gets map scores depending of the result (0-4). When playing play-off games there's no points, only single match elimination.
5.1 || ENTER THE SCORE ||
The clanleader/teamowner of the winning team submits the score on Ghostleague.net, for more information go here.
5.2 || REPLAYS ||
When entering the score you also have to upload the replays to the leaguesite, you can find out how exactly here.
The reason for this is that we want to keep this league as transparent as possible, anyone can check out the replays of any match and any clan.
If you're having problems with replays (your match lacks replays for instance), contact the admins.
6. CONFLICT
If you feel something unacceptable happened and you can not solve the issue/problem with your opponent then contact any of the (head)admins and explain what happened.
6.1 || BUG-USING / CHEATING ||
If a player is abusing the map or game in anyway during the match or you notice this after the match while watching replays (read: cheating/glitching)
Don't start accusing the opposite team/player directly, finish the match, get the replays and do NOT post in the public forum. Contact some/all of the Admins / Head Admins via E-mail, GhostLeague private message and/or Forum private message.
When we are going to solve a case we need this info included in the private message:
- 1. The replays, give us precise name of the replayfile/the map
- 2. Describe precisely WHO and WHERE this cheating/glitching occurs.
- 3. Leave this case to us and don't start spreading any rumours about the opposite team. Sometimes the proof isn't sufficient and we might be able to get more conclusive proof in the next match(es) of that team/player.
6.2 || CLIENTSIDE MODS ||
Changing reticule color is allowed.
Fullscreen (& Clearer) Nightvision is NOT allowed.
Fullscreen Sniperview is NOT allowed.
Extra gore/blood mod is NOT allowed.
etc.
Basicly you are not allowed to edit any files in your Ghost Recon directory (Except of course the options.xml file).
7. GHOST RECON'S 'GRAY AREA'
We all know what's allowed and what's not allowed (cheating). But there is a gray area between normal gaming and cheating.
Because of some bugs in the game you are able to do 'tricks'. You might've heard about tiptoes and lagdancing, or the dive-bug. If you don't know some of the following terms then you probably don't use it.
Fastpeek, you can't really been seen if you do it well. So you better not use it to avoid conflicts after the match.
Tightpeek, if you try to be a smart guy by being visible with 5 pixels then we'll play the ignorant admin that doesn't understand why it's not a big deal. So, in other words: Don't do it, if it happens to you, you don't like it either.
Glitchpeek, sometimes it happens by accident because of a mapbug. But we'll see the difference between accident and on purpose glitchpeeking around corners.
Tiptoe, There are many forms of tiptoe, and basicly it's the same as peeking. Make sure it is visible and we're not talking about a few pixels. Play nice! We'll check every tiptoe case and come up with a appropriate penalty, same as glitchpeeking/near-glitchpeeking cases.
Fast-standup trick, It's not allowed if you gain a unfair advantage by using it. For example shoot-outs where you are proning behind a hill or wall: use normal standup method here!
In general: Make your peeks and tiptoes visible! Of course just 1 pixel is in theory 'visible', but keep it acceptable people - don't try to see how far you can go!
We can't tell you what the penalties are for these offenses. It really depends on various factors, most likely automatic roundloss, even a match loss.
Door-trick, There is a way to open doors without being forced by the game to stand still, this gives you an unfair advantage sometimes and thus expect a penalty for it.
Diving/waterbug, There is a trick/bug that allows your character to completely submerge in the water, and in night maps your soldier is much much harder to spot. Obviously this isn't allowed. You can go crouch-level in the water or if possible prone-level when the game allows you too, but without using the dive-bug.
Lagdancing/dodging, It might be lame, but we can not ban the use of dodging. As simple as that.
More information about glitching can be found at ReplayCommittee.com, they also have a whole article about cheats known in Ghost Recon.
note: They lable some things as cheating while we don't see it as cheating (for example gridmaps and changing reticule color)
